A Private Security Officer is required to protect property and the personnel at/on the property. They must also be able to 'secure' a
criminal until the Police or us such recognized Law Enforcement Agency are in attendance. All of this must be done within the boundaries
of the law, which may recognize them only as civilians, with no special powers of arrest etc.
Any agency or individual must be able to fulfill these requirements without opening themselves up to the opportunity of litigation. They
must also feel empowered with the necessary skills to be confident in going about their job with knowing that when the time comes to act,
they will be able to do so with minimal risk to themselves.
By offering training in both 'soft' (identification, deescalation etc) and 'hard' (control and restraint, arrest techniques, personal and
third party protection etc), an officer can be equipped with the necessary skills to do the job efficiently and effectively.
Gone are the day when door staff ('bouncers' etc), were local, notable hard men employed to throw out any trouble makers. Today the main focus
of the door persons job is to ensure that their employers premises keeps its license to serve alcohol and provide entertainment. This means
that dealing with troublesome customers must be done in a low-key manner, with as little attention drawn as possible.
By teaching individuals how to identify troublesome customers before they enter the premises and turn them away in a non-confrontational manner,
many potential violent incidents can be avoided. By teaching them effective control and restraint techniques that can be carried out in a
non-obvious way situations that have already (or are about to turn physical) can be defused quickly and quietly.
We also teach door staff how to work as part of a team and can help customers conduct a risk assessment of their premises to ascertain the
level of security they need.
Debt collection and the recovery of property is a necessary part of todays business life however it can also be a highly emotional affair for the
debtor, causing them to act in ways which may put both themselves, the property and the recovery agent at risk. They may also refuse to recognize
the agents role and authority at all.
By understanding the debtors perspective agents can act in a manner that is far more likely to provoke a positive and non-emotional response,
which in turn means property and debts are more likely to be recovered.
The role of the Close Protection Agent, contrary to what the general public think is neither romantic or exciting. Much of the time boredom
and distraction can creep in, which reduces the operatives level of vigilance. This is why it is imperative for any agent/officer to have
correct and professional training so that they know when and how to be alert.
Teaching the correct decision making process is imperative to make sure that a client is kept as safe/secure as possible and this means
teaching the agent how to make dynamic risk assessments that keep the third party at the center of all choices.
